Pregnancy tests check for a hormone called hCG that is produced by the embryo during pregnancy.
The longer you wait to take the test, the more accurate it becomes.
It is best to wait until your first missed period before you take a pregnancy test. You can test sooner, but you may need to take a confirming pregnancy test later.
So many circumstances can complicate the prospect of pregnancy: relationship struggles, financial strain, difficult timing. Our advocates have a wealth of training and experience and can give each woman the time she needs to discuss her individual situation, explore all her options, and work through the challenges the pregnancy creates for her.
Before visiting an abortion clinic, it’s important to understand all of your abortion options. You deserve to know what abortion methods are used at different stages of pregnancy and what risks are involved in each procedure. We can help you understand your options, listen to your concerns and answer your questions. Be informed so you can make the decision that’s right for you.
*CPC does not refer for nor perform abortions.
I MIGHT BE
AFTER ABORTION CARE
Many women and men view abortion as the solution to their problem and may feel initial relief following the abortion. However, it can be the beginning of many struggles.
Are you feeling trapped by the memory of a past abortion or abortions? You are not alone. There is hope for you at CPC of Lenawee.
Have you or a friend had an abortion and experienced any of the following?
• Guilt and Anxiety
• Feelings of Helplessness and Isolation
• Sadness, Grief, Remorse
• Frequent or Uncontrollable Crying
• Urgent Need To “Talk It Out”
• Shame and Fear of Others Finding Out
• Alcohol and/or Drug Abuse
• Suicidal Thoughts
• Relationship Problems
After an abortion an individual usually experiences an enormous sense of relief. But over a period of time the relief wears off and the moral struggle they felt prior to the abortion resurfaces. Life changes cause them to re-examine and question their past choices. The reality of abortion sets in, and they find it increasingly difficult to deal with their emotions.
Unfortunately, many women and men choose to have an abortion without understanding the serious, irreversible consequences that follow the procedure. Within days, months, or even years after an abortion, many women (and men) experience physical and emotional problems stemming from the abortion. Most individuals have no idea why this is happening to them.
Here at CPC of Lenawee, we want to help those who are struggling with issues relating to their abortion. We are able to provide you with confidential and compassionate support while you are dealing with these feelings. CPC of Lenawee offers hope and healing from the painful effects of abortion.
Our Post-Abortion Support Group provides one-on-one or group classes free of charge for men and women who are suffering from a past abortion. We know reaching out for help can be very difficult, but to begin the healing process it is imperative that you reach out. All calls are confidential, so please call us today and we will walk alongside you as you find your healing.

We provide the facts about STDs and STIs and the benefits of abstinence until marriage. We recognize that saving sex for marriage fosters healthy relationships and bright futures.
